EmpowerU Elementary Social & Emotional Curriculum Update
EmpowerU Lesson #5 (This Week): Students will learn about Automatic Negative Thoughts, or ANTs, which is something we all experience! By noticing these ANTs earlier, we are able to take Charge and work on connecting with our Inner Coach. Your student will learn a calming tool called Palm Pushes. Ask them to show you what it looks like!
EmpowerU Lesson #4: Students will be learning how to quiet their Inner Critic, and focus on their Inner Coach. This can be a very powerful tool! The calming tool your child will learn this week is called the Self Hug. This is a practice that includes deep pressure and self kindness. We will continue to revisit all of the tools we have learned in prior weeks!
EmpowerU Lesson #3: Students will learn about taking small steps toward meeting goals. When things are hard, Charge feels outside of our control. If we use a Calming Tool like Breathe and Check In, Gratitude, or 5-4-3-2-1, it helps us remember that Charge is inside of us. The newest tool, 5-4-3-2-1, helps students to be in the here and now, and to notice things around them using their senses. These tools can be helpful, small steps!
EmpowerU Lesson #2: Students will learn about Charge (See picture of Charge our EmpowerU Mascot). When things are hard, Charge feels outside of our control. If we use a Calming Tool like Breathe and Check In or Gratitude, it helps us remember that Charge is inside of us. We have control over how we respond to different situations! When Charge is in you, you are in charge!

St. Patrick's Day K-2 CER Class

"I Love To Read" Month
Cereal Box Storybook Contest

Students in Intro to Engineering Design class were given a challenge to create a vehicle that could travel the farthest using materials given to them. The goal of the challenge was to teach teamwork and the design process.

Students in Civil Engineering class recently experienced dirt testing. A soil sample was ground, sifted, washed and weighed to determine the amounts of clay, sand and gravel present. These percentages help to determine if the soil will bear the weight of a building.

GHEC School had the privilege of hosting an area honor choir that included students from GHEC, BEA, Fairmont, LCWM, MCW, and St. James. Representing GHEC were Eisley Emmert, Tessa Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Emma Carlson, Ayla Meixell, Ingalill Myhr, and Jorvik Jensen. Awesome!!

I am working in getting the 3D printers up and running to use in STEAM later this week! Thank you to @MartinCountyKnowHow for letting us use these printers!
You can see some of the test prints I have done.

3rd and 4th grade robotics is going amazing! Almost all groups have a mobile robot!
