The Granada Huntley East Chain School District is located in beautiful South Central Minnesota. GHEC schools serve the communities of Granada, Huntley, and East Chain as well as students from the Fairmont, Blue Earth, Winnebago, Truman, Elmore, Welcome, and Delavan areas.

The communities of Granada (the “Eagles”), Huntley (the "Knights”), and East-Chain (the “Chainers”) were previously independent school districts with individual K-12 schools. The Granada and Huntley districts combined in 1970 and East Chain was added to the consolidation in 1992 (following pairing in 1987).

As a small community school, we place a great emphasis on living the vision of being “committed to excellence in technology, academics, leadership, and extracurricular activities” and being a school “where everyone matters.” GHEC is fortunate to have growing enrollment, while simultaneously providing small class sizes and a focus on each student as an individual. Our Elementary School consists of one classroom (one section) for kindergarten through 5th grades along with the support of a dedicated Title One instructor, Social Worker, and Response-to-Intervention teacher. Our Middle School includes dedicated science, social studies, math, and English instruction tailored to the academic needs of students in grades 6-8. And our High School includes a separate team of content instructors supplemented with many elective course offerings. Even though GHEC is small in size, we are fortunate to be able to offer a great variety of middle and high school course offerings including Agriculture, Career and Technical Education, Spanish, Instrumental and Vocal Music, and Art opportunities. From a student's Preschool years to graduating as a senior, GHEC is able to provide the individual support and instruction necessary for our students' next phase in life. GHEC has a student support team that includes two social workers, intervention, special education, Title, and (guidance) counseling support as well as the security of a full-time school resource officer.

As of summer 2024, the Granada Huntley East Chain District serves 325 students in grades PreK-12 and has a staff of over 58 individuals to support the needs of each pupil. GHEC has a genuine “family-type” atmosphere while providing a relevant and rigorous education. If you have any questions about our district, are interested in learning more about GHEC, or would like to tour our facilities/meet our staff please contact our main office.
