Civics

Welcome to Civics! Throughout your time in my classroom, I hope you find the classes interesting, informative and of course, fun! You will be working hard to develop new skills and understand new concepts throughout the year. I strongly believe in challenging students through a variety of activities that will make history “come alive”. This syllabus will give you information about how to become a productive member of my classroom, so that you can be the best student you can be! I am looking forward to what we can accomplish this year.

Students will explore the origins of the American democratic system while looking at how the constitution embodies the values and purposes set up by the founding fathers. The structure and function of the government will be analyzed on a national, state, and local level while showing how each level is interrelated. This will launch the class into discussing how constitutional values relate to other nations and world affairs. Throughout the course we will focus on how the people play an active role in government and the importance each citizen contributes to society.
